We. It's a small word. Two letters, but it carries everything, you guys. Every person we count on, every neighbor we have or haven't met yet, every table we pull a chair up to. We plural. Because community was never meant to be a solo act. I'm Lisa Hall, and this is a show about the work of building something together on purpose. Not the idea of community, but the actual work of it. The meetings that sometimes run long, the plans that will change and then change again. The showing up time after time, even when it's inconvenient. Every week I'm going to have the privilege of sitting down with someone doing that work. Real conversations. We'll get into actually what's working in their community and what isn't, and what it costs them to keep going. You'll hear from public health workers figuring out how to reach people the system keeps missing, from civic organizers turning frustration into action, from faith leaders holding their communities together through really hard seasons, and from people rebuilding local economies block by block, and from advocates who feel their community is worth it. We're going to talk honestly about mental health, not as a checkbox, but as a part of what it takes to do this work and stay healthy and whole while doing it. This isn't a highlight reel, it's not going to pretend the work is easy or that any one person has it figured out. What I have found again and again is that people doing this work best aren't doing it alone. They've built something plural, a we. And that's what I want to understand. One conversation at a time.
